Different Lighting

For this assignment I decided to take an object and take pictures of it in three different settings. The first picture was taken inside without a flash. The only light in the whole room was from my window. I think that this picture came out the best out of all of them. The second one I obviously just brought outside because I figured it would be the complete opposite of the first picture. The last one I took inside under a lamp. This was my least favorite picture because I think the light makes the elephant look almost to shiny. I took all of these pictures in the same  camera mode because I figured it would be the best way to really show the difference in lighting.

  1. Fantastic! When we are having so many cloudy days, why not make your own lighting happen?

  2. Hi Cody
I like the second one the best. Something about the elephant, standing majestic, on a grassy hill overlooking the snow is really cool. I like the trees in the background also. And the color or the elephant is richer and intense in the second shot . Really nice. Maria

  3. Cody- nice job- three very distinct lighting differences. I have to say I think I like the third one the best. I like how you can really see the detail of all the carving. I do agree it does look a little shiny. Which picture is realistic to the real coloring? Nice job creating lighting differences when they are not "naturally" available.

  4. Cody,
I think you did a great job with representing the different lighting schemes. Each one is very distinct and you can tell how the lighting in each picture affects the object.

  5. Cody,

Each shot is special in it's own way. I like the third one the most, because the elephant sticks out the most in this one, because of the light shining on the elephant and the contrast of the black background. Good job!

  6. Cody, I love your choice of the elephant. It is very simple and tasteful. I do agree with you about the 1st photo. It is my favorite too. I love the reflection on the table top. Great job!

  7. I really like the different lighting choices you made for these pictures. Each gives such a different view of the object.

  8. These came out really well. I like how you took the object to different places, rather than just using different lighting. My personal favorite is the middle one. Great job!
